Projects

At ARC UP AUSTRALIA!, we activate research in communities and connect the experience of place to individual perspective. We create little projects with big voices and use storytelling as an instrument for change.

Using investigative tools such as oral history, interview, photography and other visual mediums, backed by more traditional quantitative and historical research to explore places, we identify problems and how these impact our identity, sense of belonging and happiness.

Our work blends principles deployed in placemaking, creative arts, sociology and heritage practice to inspire people to collectively rethink and reimagine what it means to live in and be Australian.

While simple in design and small in scale, these exhibitions, publications and events ‘speak’ to local councils and organisations who deal with the problems and concerns of their communities. They creatively present sociological data to inspire further exploration and consideration by those who can work within.

We honour the strength and sovereignty of First Nations communities who continue to fight for truth-telling and self-determination.

Our work is grounded in relationships of respect and reciprocity. We commit to amplifying First Nations voices, backing their leadership, and resisting systems that silence or erase them.
